Regulations Governing the Fitting of Solid Fuel Appliances
All solid fuel appliances by law have to be fitted to comply with Part J of The Building Regulations, by
a Hetas qualified engineer.
If you fit it yourself you will need to apply to Building Control which will cost from approximately £75 –
£250 subject to the cost of installation. In both cases a Certificate of Compliance will be issued which
you will need if you sell the property.
Be warned if the appliance is illegally fitted and it causes a fire, your insurance could be invalid.
